A Year of Running with Zuckerberg
Mark Zuckerberg enjoys a good challenge.
This year is no exception. Zuckerberg recently announced his physical challenge for the year on Facebook: Run 365 miles.
Maybe he read my 2016 Running Resolutions? (I’d appreciate a shout out)
Now, Zuck wasn’t clear if he means 365 miles, however he wanted, or if he means 1 mile per day, everyday, no exceptions. That would be two totally different challenges. 365 miles, on it’s own, is not exceptionally difficult.
Zuckerberg himself says so,
This is a lot of running, but it’s not a crazy amount. It’s a mile a day, and at a moderate pace it’s less than 10 minutes of running per day.
Now if this was 365 days in a row that is significantly more challenging. Physically, nearly everyone can do that, but mentally? Never missing a day for a year straight? That takes serious dedication.
Anyway, I’m fairly sure he means 365 miles total for the year, however he wants.
What is Zuckerberg trying to prove here? Probably nothing other than a good physical challenge, but I am guessing he wants to show the world that no matter how busy you are, your health has to be a top priority. The most successful and seemingly busiest people in the world make exercise a priority.
With this post, Zuckerberg has officially made 2016 the Year of Running.
Get off Facebook and GO RUNNING!!! Even the founder is telling you to. Pro runners have already chimed in and offered advice for the social media tycoon.
He also wants you to join him. In the 15 hours since the group was started it already has 67,000+ members and is growing fast
Also, just want to remind you Zuck, it’s a leap year….Shouldn’t you go 366 miles?
If you are considering challenging yourself to run 1 mile everyday for a year, check out this video of a guy who documented himself completing it last year. Pretty cool!
