People running in the snow
Runners are tough. Runners are nuts. Runners are tough nuts? A little snow (25+in) this past weekend did not scare many runners from getting their workouts done. There are races to train for, streaks to keep alive, fun to be had.
It’s cold and snowy East Coasters. Braving the elements means adjusting expectations (and your mindset). Sometimes you have to take what Mother Nature throws at you. What can you do about it? Nada. Don’t force something if it’s going to result in a full speed, ice induced wipeout.
As always, the snow will eventually melt. The air will warm up. The sun will come back out. In the mean time, enjoy the winter wonderland. Take a few days of slower running to look around more. Enjoy the craziness. You are running. Others are curled up inside. You can tell your friends, family, that weird guy sitting on the park bench, that Snowzilla didn’t stop you, it only made you stronger (and crazier).
Here are some pictures over the weekend of people running in the snow to get you inspired. You know that once you start your run it’s always worth it.
