Christopher McDougall's Born To Run is a must read book for any runner. The book follows two story lines - the shoe industry and the Tarahumara people in Mexico. McDougall explains how the running shoe industry has changed over the years and argues that runners are more injured now than ever before, despite paying more money for shoes. He essentially advises a minimalist approach to running shoes, and can likely be given credit for the minimalist shoe trends that followed the release of this book.
The reason I couldn't put this book down was because of the story and characters surrounding the expedition to the Tarahumara people. I took away a new sense of enjoyment for running after reading this book. We learn why the Tarahumara run, it's a lesson for every runner, Although this is not a technical running book or a guide for training, you will become a better runner after reading this book.
