The Diamond League Moment of 2015 – Evan Jager

This summer in Paris, Evan Jager, the 3,000m steeplechase American Record holder, was one barrier away from doing what had seemed unthinkable just a few months earlier.

Not only was he going to lower his own AR, but he had totally dominated a race against the world’s best and was about to enter an exclusive club – Sub 8:00.  A non-african athlete has never broken 8:00 in the steeple.  Disaster struck for Jager as he clipped the last barrier with just 70m left in the race.

He finished 2nd.

His time?

8:00.45. (still an American Record)

I wasn’t able to watch this meet in person but remember going crazy, yelling at my computer. It was one of the most memorable races of the year.

Jager sat down to talk about the race in this video of The Diamond League Moment of 2015.  It’s a MUST WATCH!

Joe is a former University of Colorado runner with a penchant for numbers and filing tax returns. He started run2run as a distraction while studying for CPA exams.
